In Deeper Well Being, yoga is practiced slowly, gently, gradually, lovingly, lightly, coordinated with the breath, as a form of somatic meditation. The idea is to nurture and expand the capacities of the body and mind. “Stretching” is certainly part of the training, as are discipline, patience, balance, acceptance, humility, and more. It is not about getting a “hard” workout, not a practice of calisthenics or self-torture, and it is certainly NOT a competitive sport. We seek to actively know and expand our experience of our bodies and minds so that we can liberate ourselves from the physical, mental, and emotional habits of our passive training. With practice yoga becomes less about the poses and more about the dance and sensuality of the practice itself. The center of the practice of yoga is to increase our enjoyment of becoming, and being, ourselves.
